the scholar-in-residence for Temple
Beth El's 61st annual Rabbi B.
Benedict and Ada S. Glazer Institute
on Judaism for the Christian, Eastern
Orthodox, Muslim and Protestant
Clergy on Friday,
March 7.
Rabbi
Zimmerman is the
former executive
vice president of
Birthright Israel
USA. President of
Hebrew Union
College-Jewish
Institute of Religion
Rabbi
from 1996-2000, he
Zimmerman
previously served as
rabbi of Temple
Emanu-El in Dallas
and rabbi of Central
Synagogue in New York City.
Rabbi Zimmerman will speak to
institute participants in two lectures
Friday, March 7. His 9:30 a.m.
address, "The Sins of the Fathers:
Personal Accountability and
Repentance in the Bible," will be fol-
lowed by a 10:45 a.m. presentation on
"What Happened to Isaac After
Moriah?" Both sessions are open to
the community without charge.
Rabbi Zimmerman will also speak
at Shabbat services Friday at 7:30 p.m.
addressing the congregation on "The
American Jewish Journey: Where
Have We Been?" On Saturday, March
8, at a 9:15 a.m. Torah study, he will
lead a discussion on the "Torah As the
Prism for Our Own Personal and
Communal Journeys." The topic for
the 10:30 a.m. services will be "The
American Jewish Journey: What
Direction for the 21st Century?"
No reservations are necessary and
there is no charge for any of the
events. Chairs of the institute are Peter
and Shelly Cooper and Sheldon and
Dr. Roberta Toll. The institute is made
possible through a heritage endow-
ment gift from Merton and Beverly
Segal and Marvin and Peggy Novick.
