"Healthy Kosher Cooking" at the JCC in Oak Park brought out a big crowd for the first class Feb. 12. Sponsored by Weight Watchers, the class attracted mostly women to see Chef Connie Gustafson of Burton, Mich., prepare specialties, using such healthy items as spaghetti squash. Meanwhile, a more serious topic was being discussed Feb. 11 at the JCC in West Bloomfield. Rabbi Reuven Spolter of Young Israel of Oak Park led a class called "Jewish Life and Sept. 11, 2001," in which he began discussing halachic (Jewish legal) and ethical issues surrounding the United States' war against terror- ism. Classes, which are being taught by local rabbis and educators, con- tinue through March 13. — Keri Guten Cohen, story development editor You are cordially invited Trunk Show MIRI Haute Couture Clockwise: Kurt Barrer of Farmington Hills and David Lieberman of West Bloomfield share information during Rabbi Reuven Spolteii class on "Jewish Life and Sept. 11, 2001."
