Looking back to the early days of
my career, I do not recall many families
staying behind to lower and cover the
casket. Today, I can't remember the last
family that did not stay behind for the
lowering and covering of the casket.

Bloomfield Hills, died Feb. 17, 2003.
He was a veterinarian and, in 1967,
became the founder of Ross Hospital
for Animals on Long
Lake and Telegraph.
Dr. Ross was origi-
nally partnered with
Dr. Ben Bisgeier in
Pontiac before build-
ing current location,
which he shared with
his son, Dr. Jonathan
Ross. He was a 1941
graduate of Michigan
State University

College of Veterinary
Ross
Medicine, member of
Michigan State
President's Club and founding mem-
ber of Scotch Malt Whiskey Society
of America.
Dr. Ross is survived by his daughter
and son-in-law, Linda and Harry
Shapiro of West Bloomfield; sons and
daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Carol
Ross of Texas, Dennis and Sarna Ross
of New York, Dr.' Jonathan and Lee
Ross of Bloomfield Hills; grandchil-
dren, Larry Shapiro, Steven and
Nicole Shapiro, Stacy Shapiro,
Nathaniel and Miranda Ross,
Shannon Ross, Rachel, Rebecca and
Adam Cohen, Emily and Lucas Ross;
brother-in-law, Stanley Morgenstern.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Rosalyn Ross;- loving grandfather
of the late Jacob David Ross; dear
brother of the late Ruth Stolte.

JEAN SHERMAN, 76, formerly of
Oak Park of Denver, Colo., died Feb.
3, 2003. She was a bookkeeper for
Stylish Garment, Kaufman & Broad
Homes and Albert Sheets Candy.
Mrs. Sherman was an avid duplicate
bridge player and was a gold life mas-
ter of the American Contract Bridge
League. She was also a past president
of the Morganthau Chapter of B'nai
B'rith.
Mrs. Sherman is survived by her
husband of 53 years, Harry Sherman;
