SARAH PORTNOY, 85, of

Rockville, Md., died Feb. 17, 2003.
She was a receptionist and book-
keeper. She was also a long time
member of Hadassah, a member of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek and
active with its Youth Committee
and was featured in the book Jewish
Mothers by Lloyd Wolf.
Mrs. Portnoy is survived by her
sons and daughters-in-law,
Lawrence and Jeanne Portnoy of
California, Martin and Carol
Portnoy of Illinois, Kenneth and
Ellen Portnoy; grandchildren, Joel
and Eron Portnoy, Laurel and Neal
Sereboff, Kristine and Dale Kelley,
Benjamin and Jianh Portnoy,
Juliana Portnoy, Nathan Portnoy;
great-grandchildren, Alexander
Portnoy, Nathan, Louis and Joseph
Kelley, Rebecca and Alana Sereboff;
sister, Freda Kutzen. She was the
beloved wife of the late Nathan
Portnoy; dear sister of the late Irvin
Atlas and the late Ben Atlas.
