Jonas REAL ESTATE CHILDRENS THERAPY The Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation will honor baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield with this year's Hank Greenberg Memorial Award. Winfield will be given the award at the 13th annual Greenberg Golf & Tennis Invitational on June 9 at Tam 0' Shanter Country Club in West Bloomfield. Winfield was named to the All-Star Game 12 times dur- ing his 22 major league seasons. During his career, he had 3,110 hits, 465 home runs and a .283 batting average. He ranks in the top Dave Winfield 20 in hits, runs bat- ted in, games, dou- bles and total bases. Winfield, one of only seven players to reach 3,000 hits and 400 home runs, was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 2001. He is the only athlete ever to be drafted in three major professional sports. After starring at the University of Minnesota in baseball and basket- ball, he was drafted by baseball's San Diego Padres, basketball's Atlanta Hawks (NBA) and Utah Stars (ABA), and football's Minnesota Vikings. He founded the David M. Winfield Foundation, which provides free base- ball tickets and health examinations to underprivileged children. He has'also served as a board member for the Morehouse School of Medicine, the Peace Corps and the San Diego Padres.
