Lara and Marc Feldman serenade each
other with "Can't Help Falling in Love"
at their August 2001 wedding.

ballad with him: "Take my hand/
Take my whole life, too/ For I can't
help falling in love with you."
"What made it really special was
having Lara singing the last stanza
with me," Feldman says about cher-
ishing that highlight of the night.
"And I believe that everybody there
felt like they were a part of us and
not just being spectators. It really
was an amazing moment."
Since then, Feldman reports that
married life for the 27-year-old
couple is wonderful. And when
asked how he feels about "Can't
Help Falling in Love" today, he
can't help but flash back to the
memory of their special serenade.
"When I hear the song on the
radio, that's the first thing I think
about," he says. "The song defined
our wedding. It defined our rela-
tionship. It's a wonderful song." ❑

"I looked into it very deeply, and I
feel that, because America was
involved in the Vietnam War, it took
my song very literally," Weiss suggests.
"Instead, I wrote it ironically; I
wrote it as to say what a wonderful
world this could be, if we'd ever give it
a chance."
Not until the song appeared in the
soundtrack album of the 1987 film Good
Morning, Vietnam, starring Robin
Williams, did Weiss' disheartened dreams
finally bank Armstrong a national hit, on
a Top-10, million-selling album.
What's so strange, Weiss notes, is
that "What a Wonderful World" first
became a hit by a man of God, then it
circled the world and gained accept-
ance, as if some entity watched over it
and saw to it that it would someday be
understood.
"When that happened," he says, "it
was one of the most beautiful things that
ever happened to me in my career." ❑
