Family Donates Athbulance To ARMDI

A mobile intensive cardiac care unit ambulance was donated by Shari
and Alon Kaufman of West Bloomfield to Israel in honor of Miriam
and Fred Ferber and Chana and Simon Kaufman, parents and grand-
parents.
The ARMDI Maimonides Award was presented to the Kaufmans by
Eva Mames, president of the Dr. John J. Mames Chapter-Michigan
Region, American Red Magen David for Israel.
The ambulance will bring emergency relief to victims of terrorist
attacks, accidents and medical distress, and life to newborns. It will
carry bears and blankets to be distributed to injured children transport-
ed by ambulance to hospitals. Many local religious schools, day schools
and organizations have participated in Operation Bear-Blanket.

AJCommittee Urges 'Buy Israeli'

The American Jewish Committee has launched a Made in Israel campaign,
designed to urge Americans to buy Israeli products to strengthen the Israeli
economy.
A comprehensive catalogue of Israeli products, ranging from wines to
gourmet food to designer jewelry, is available at www.ajc,org
The four components of the Made in Israel campaign are: encouraging
American consumers and businesses to buy Israeli products; urging those
who regularly purchase such goods to tell their friends and coworkers to also
buy Israeli; asking local stores to stock Israeli-made products; keeping a data-
base of vendors of quality Israeli-made products up-to-date and accessible.
AJCommitee offices around the world are purchasing Israeli products
whenever possible.
The Detroit chapter started this campaign with its coordination of last
summer's Ben Yehudah Israeli Shopping Expo, co-chaired by Susan and
Robert Rollinger of Farmington Hills and co-sponsored by the Jewish
Community Center in Oak Park.
