BY KENNATH MARIE WATKINS

T

ry listening with your
eyes, and hear the
sounds of nature by
flipping through the
pages of Evelyn H. Lauder's latest
book An Eye For Beauty (Harry N.
Abrams, Inc. Publishers, $33).
The renowned cosmetic execu-
tive offers another perspective,
showing the world's beauty through
her eyes. However, this book offers
more than just another artistic dis-
play for your coffee table or book-
shelf. It serves a great cause to pre-
serve life. Lauder is donating the
royalties of her book to the Breast
Cancer Research Foundation, of

which she is founder. "Life is short,
each of us should strive to have an
enjoyable day every day, and give
to others," she said, sharing one of
her philosophies on life.
Soothing scenes of rippling
waters, colored skies and intriguing
portraits from all over the world are
included throughout her book of
105 full-color photographs.
Lauder has been a serious pho-
tographer for 45 years, and said her
work has taught her to look very
hard at something and then look
again, so she may see every possi-
ble aspect of a particular subject.
"When I create an image that

helps someone — even just myself
— find peace, then I've attained
my goal."
