Temple Hires
New Soloist
Neil Michaels is the newest member of
the Temple Israel family. As cantorial
soloist, he will work directly with
Cantor Lori Corrsin.
Michaels attributes
his career choice to
his camp experience
at age 14, when he
attended the
Interlochen National
Music Camp near
Traverse City. He
went on to study for
Neil Michaels
his undergraduate
degree at the Julliard
School n New York and then pursued
gra uate study at the Curtis Institute
of Music in Philadelphia.
Michaels has performed as a lyric
baritone at the Metropolitan Opera,
Opera Company of Philadelphia,
Santa Fe Opera, Carnegie Hall, Avery
Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and
Chautauqua and Santa Fe Music
Festivals.
Michaels and his fiancee Stephanie
were welcomed during Shabbat servic-
es Dec. 6.
B'nai Moshe
Honors Rabbi
Congregation B'nai
Moshe will honor
Rabbi Elliot Pachter
with a celebration
marking their first 10
years together as
rabbi and congrega-
tion. The celebration
is dubbed "A Perfect
10" in recognition of Rabbi Pachter
Rabbi Pachter's love
of sports.
The event will feature a special
Shabbat service on April 5 and a fami-
ly-oriented day of fun and friendship
on Sunday, April 6. As a tribute to
Rabbi Pachter, the synagogue will cre-
ate a special alcove in its main foyer.
The alcove will be dedicated during
the anniversary weekend.
Co-chairing the celebration are
Alisa Peskin-Shepherd and Anne
Rottman, both of West Bloomfield.
An anniversary video is planned, for
which congregants have been asked to
lend personal photos and videos show-
ing the rabbi's involvement in their
