He is the brother of Reisa and David and the grandchild of Rhoda and Marshall Tobin, Maurice Shanaman and the late Betty Shanaman. Baratt is a student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. His hob- bies include photography, working with computers, swimming, scuba div- ing and basketball. During a Temple Israel Shabbaton, he participated in making a patch for a quilt, which was sent to a school in Israel. He also enjoyed serving dinner to the homeless as well as being the official cotton candy man at all of the Denby Orphanage parties. Nicholas Jackson Shlain will celebrate his bar mitzvah Saturday, Feb. 8, at Temple Israel. He is the son of Bruce Shlain and the late Gayle Krinsky Shlain. His sis- ter Francesca and proud grandparents Hilda and Marvin Shlain and Emily and Joseph Krinsky will share in the simchah. Attending West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills, Nicholas likes sports and movies. He found volun- teering at Yad Ezra in Berkley to be especially meaningful as part of his mitzvah projects. Lauren Aleigha- Shreve will be called to read from the Torah as a bat mitz- vah Saturday, Feb. 8, at Temple Israel. She is the daughter of Barbara Jacknow Shreve and Mark Shreve and sister of Alan. Her excited grandparents are Zenia and Dr. Irvin Lefton and Dorothy and Ed Shreve. She is also the grandchild of the late Dr. Albert Jacknow. Lauren is an honor student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. Her activities and interests include taking care of dogs, dancing, science and the computer. As part of her mitzvah projects, she enjoyed face painting at Temple Israel's Labor Day picnic. Benjamin Carl Siarto, son of Polly Siarto, will read from the Torah on the occasion of his bar mitzvah at Havdalah services Saturday, Feb. 8, at Temple Israel. His proud grandmother is Ann Siarto. Attending Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled Lake, where he is an honor student, Benjamin enjoys music and performing arts. He also plays football and baseball. He felt it was meaningful to work at Temple Israel's Labor Day picnic as part of his mitz- vah projects. Lindsay Brooke Silber, daughter of Michelle and Bradley Silber, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah Saturday, Feb. 8, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Her proud sister is Jessica. She is honored to have her grandparents Esther and Harvey Olson and Shirley and Joel Silber and her great-grandfather William Greenberg share in her simchah. Lindsay is a seventh-grade honor student at Clifford Smart Middle School in Commerce Township. She loves dancing, playing the piano and .caring for animals. Her other interests include writing poetry, drawing, paint- ing and spending time with family and friends. Her mitzvah projects included delivering lunches to the homeless, volunteering at the Dorothy and Peter Brown Adult Day Care Center in West Bloomfield, making dolls at the West Bloomfield Hadassah House for sick children and donating funds to the Cancer Foundation. Brittany Nicole Weber will read from the Torah on the occasion of her bat mitzvah Friday, Feb. 7, at Temple Israel. She is the daughter of Marcy Weber and the late Sanford Weber. Her brothers are Evan and Bradley. Sharing in the simchah will be her grandparents Shirley and Earl Weingarden and Florence Weber. Brittany attends Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. Her interests include team sports and dancing.
