She is the daughter of Carol and Jon Birnkrant and younger sister of Michael. Jaclyn's proud grandparents are Bernice and Sherwin Birnkrant and Sally and Harry Nosanchuk. Her great-grandparents were the late Marian Birnkrant Jacobs and the late Saul Birnkrant, the late May Nosanchuk, the late Max Nosanchuk, the late Lois Ettinger, the late Fred Ettinger and the late Ida and Samuel Levy. An honor student at Cranbrook Kingswood Middle School in Bloomfield Hills, Jaclyn plays clarinet in the advanced band, participates on the tennis and soccer teams, in student gov- ernment, and with Green Key and the ski club. For her mitzvah project, she volunteers weekly as a student aide at Temple Beth El's religious school. Emily Brooke Durnion was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Temple Emanu-El. She is the daughter of Steve and Audrey Durnion and sister of Danielle. Also joining in the cele- bration were her grand- parents Marvin and Ilene Delidow, Jean Durnion and great-grandfather Herman Delidow. She is also the granddaughter of the late Stanley Durnion. Emily is an honor student at Keller Middle School in Royal Oak. She plays soccer for the Birmingham Premier Soccer League. Her mitzvah projects included helping at Girl Scout meetings for her sister's troop, collecting blankets for an animal shelter and helping at the Light the Night walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Bradley Adam Gladstone, son of Karen and Robert Gladstone, will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah Saturday, Feb. 8, at Temple Israel. His proud grandparents are Winnie and William Borkin. He is also the grandchild of the late Roen Gladstone Klein and the late Jack Gladstone. When not attending Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills, where he is a dou- ble honor student, Brad enjoys foot- ball, listening to music, playing with animals, video games and squash. Through a program at Hillel, he worked with seniors at Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield as part of his mitzvah projects. Sarah Tziporah Lerman-Sinkoff will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Congregation Beth Ahm. Sarah's parents, Mark Sinkoff and Ruth Lerman, broth- ers Ari and Dov Lerman-Sinkoff and grandmothers Ethel Sinkoff and Lillian Lerman will share in the joy of the day. Sarah is also the granddaughter of the late Saul Sinkoff and the late Samuel Lerman. Sarah, a sixth-grade honor student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills, played on the Hillel basketball team and current- ly plays AAU basketball. She also ran cross-country at Hillel and is an avid skier. She loves reading, playing the piano, flute, soccer and video games. Sarah is an active member of Habonim Dror and enjoys Israeli dancing. She has volunteered for West Bloomfield Relay for Life and at Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield. Shoshannah Newman will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah during Minchah- Maariv and Havdalah services at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield Saturday, Feb. 8. Joining in her simchah will be her ecstatic parents, Rob and Judy Newman; brothers, Jacob and Aaron; and little sister, Caitlin. Her proud grandparents are Ann Newman and Carol Levitsky. She is also the granddaughter of the late Rudolph Newman and the late Henry Levitsky. Shoshannah is an honor student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. She loves candle making, in-line skating, swimming and spend- ing time with friends. She also loves going to Tamarack Camps. Shoshannah worked at Yad Ezra in Berkley, at Farmington Hills-based JARC, at the Danto Family Health Care Center in West Bloomfield and at the Shaarey Zedek Beth Hayeled camp.
