2003 JCC MACCABI GAMES®
INFORMATION
The 2003 JCC Maccabi Games® will be held August 10-15 in St. Louis, MO and
Houston, TX and August 17-22 in Tenafly, NJ for the following sports: boy's baseball,
boy's basketball, girl's basketball, girl's soccer, girl's softball, girl's volleyball, inline hockey,
bowling, dance, golf, table tenths, tenths, track and field, and swimming. The games
are for Jewish teens who will be age'13-16 as of August 1, 2003.

Lee Stern were recently
married at Temple Beth
Am in Seattle, Wash. Rather than a
bridal party, the couple had a "clergy
party" with four rabbis and a cantor
officiating: Rabbis Harold Loss and
Paul Yedwab and Cantor Lori Corrsin
of Temple Israel as well as Rabbi
Jonathan Singer of Seattle and Rabbi
Michelle Greenberg of Denver, Colo.
Marla is the daughter of Dr. Tom
and JoAnn Hornsten of Mercer
Island, Wash. Sheldon is the son of
Burt and Claire Stern of Deerfield, Ill.
Their siblings, Amy and Doug Blauer,
Becky Hornsten, Mike Stern, Judy
Nachowitz and Rachel Bruell, stood
under the chuppah as attendants as
did Sheldon's daughters, Erica and
Jessica Stern.
Marla is a rabbi at Temple Israel and
Sheldon is a family physician in
Farmington Hills. The couple traveled
to the Canadian Rockies for their hon-
eymoon and reside in West Bloomfield.
MANDATORY INFORMATIONAL MEETING
Parents AND athletes should attend. Introduction of coaches, site information,
tryout schedule and other important information will be discussed.

mily Susan Opfermann and
Dr. Evan David Ellis were
recently married at the
Charlevoix Country Club
in Charlevoix. Rabbi Adam Chalom
of the Birmingham Temple and Pastor
Dan Cave of St. John Lutheran
Church officiated.
Emily is the daughter of Paul and
Susan Opfermann of Farmington
Hills. Evan is the son of Jerry and
Mary Ellis, also of Farmington Hills.
Katie Ruland was the maid of
honor. BrideSmaids included Laura
Nelson, Katherine Reppetti, Lee
Nelson, Heather White, Brooke
Sharp, Erin Schmidt and Beth Barlow.
Evan's brother, Andrew Ellis, was
the best man. Groomsmen included
Dr. Gregory Roehrig, Matthew
Geschke, Dr. Matthew Steinhauser,
Steven Baer, Dr. Steven Lubitz, Dr.
Brian Eisner and Bradley Opferman,
brother of the bride. The ring bearer
was Alec White, cousin of the bride.
The newlyweds honeymooned in
Cabo San Lucas and make their home
in Seattle, Wash. Emily is a speech-
language pathologist. Evan is an
orthopedic surgery resident at the
University of Washington.
