Pitt Center Hosts
Parenting Series

The Sarah and Irving Pitt Child
Development Center will offer a parent-
ing breakfast-lecture series beginning
Feb. 16. All lectures will take place on
Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
Dr. Mitch Parker, director of special
needs at Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit, will speak Feb.
16. His topic will be "How to Raise a
Happy Child in Today's World."
Temple Israel Rabbi Paul Yedwab will
speak March 23. Author of The God
Book, Rabbi Yedwab will speak about
"How to Talk to Your Child About
God."
The third lecture, "Helping Kids
Become Capable, Connected,
Contributing Members of the
Community," will be given April 6 by
Tina Shriman Oxer. Ms. Shriman Oxer
holds an MA. degree in special educa-
tion and is a retired Michigan State
University faculty member.
On May 18, registered dietician
Pamela Thomas-Haddad will discuss
"Keeping Kids Healthy; Learn to Teach
Your Children Healthy Eating Habits
that Will Last a Lifetime."
Lectures are $5 per person and
include continental breakfast. For reser-

JCC Joins With
Ann Arbor Reads

Ann Arbor Reads will take place at the
Jewish Community Center of
Washtenaw County on Birch Hollow
Drive in Ann Arbor.
Based on the national program,
Community Reads, this program will
involve reading selected chapters from
the book Tatham Lincoln's DNA and
Other Adventures in Genetics and then
discussing the social and ethical issues
raised by advances in the life sciences.
