J CC. "We base our schedule on

feedback from members. There's a
definite demand. We try to accom-
modate everyone."
Donna Einhorn, administrative
assistant for sports and recreation,
says the Health Club is built so that
curtains could divide it to separate
men and women. Although "no need
has been expressed, I wouldn't say it
couldn't be accommodated," she
says.
At It Figures, women get a "total
body workout" on a series of
hydraulic resistance equipment
arranged in a circuit. The workout
takes 30 minutes. Curves for
Women has a similar setup.
"It addresses waning motivation,"
says Dorene Weisberg-Sobczak of
West Bloomfield. "It's fast, it's fun,
and it's easy."
Southfield Mayor Brenda
Lawrence was at It Figures Jan. 2 to
cut the ribbon for the 1,400-square-
foot facility in the Southfield
Commons shopping center on
Southfield Road north of 12 Mile.
Deep aqua and pink walls surround
the workout room, changing rooms
and a massage therapy room.
Jennifer Jeannero is the message
therapist and Aviva Abrams is on
staff as a yoga and Pilates instructor.
Sobczak plans to offer a series of
monthly health talks and is working
to arrange an arts and crafts drop-off
program for her patrons' children at
a day care facility located within the
same strip mall.
A native Detroiter, Sobczak, 56,
has been Orthodox for the past 11
years and hopes not only her co-reli-
gionists, but all women, will feel
comfortable in her facility, where, she
says, "it's always women's hours." ❑
