BBYO Teens Compete

Individuals and chapters vie for awards at Regional Convention.

Some 382 BBYO members from
metro Detroit and Windsor compet-
ed for individual and chapter awards
at the B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization Regional Convention.
Twenty AZA and BBG chapters vied
in 29 categories.
Regional Convention was held
Dec. 22-26 at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
Shapiro and Kishon AZA chapters
tied for "Most Distinguished
Chapter" and Achayot BBG won the
title for a second year in a row.
Kishon was first in talent show with
its "Blues Brothers" routine and
Achayot won talent show for a third
consecutive year with a dance entry.
Shapiro AZA and Genesis BBG
won the "Most Improved Chapter"
awards. Besides competitive events,
BBYO teens participated in a com-
munity service project, making
stuffed bears for Israeli children
injured in terrorist attacks, an initia-
tive of the Michigan Chapter of the
American Red Magen David for
Israel.
Regional Convention coordinators
were Erick Rosenbloom, 15, of Al
Jolson AZA and Alyse Solomor, 17,
of Ruach BBG.

Eve Weiner, Genesis BBG. Bake
(cakes): Sara Abrin, Brice BBG. Bake

Leadership Forum
Set For Pittsburgh

Young Jewish leaders from around the country will meet in
Pittsburgh from March 21-23 to learn about issues con-
fronting world Jewry and to learn to combat anti-Israel
bias.
