It's the new
Hummer 2 sport utility vehicle by
General Motors, which is currently
flying out of dealerships, much to
GM's delight. Built on a
Suburban/Yukon XL platform with
a Cadillac Escalade engine, it is a
luxurious version of the military
Humvee transport vehicle. The
Hummer 2, at $48,000, is in the
same price category as its competi-
tion, the super-luxury sport utility
vehicles like the Yukon, Range
Rover, Navigator, Escalade and
Toyota Land Cruiser.
Brian Adelman, a West
Bloomfield obstetrician/gynecolo-
gist, decided the new Hummer 2
would make a perfect 40th birth-
day gift for his brother-in-law,
West Bloomfield businessman
Alon Kaufman. He liked it so
much, he bought himself one, too.
