Meet Sandi. 34 years old. Single parent.
Former schoolteacher. One night, not too
long agO, Sandi took her son, still sleeping
in his crib, grabbed her handbag and the
keys to the family car, and ran away from
home to escape the physical and emotional
abuse of her husband. With $324 to her
name, Sandi fled to her parents' apartment.
Living on a fixed income, her parents are
in no position to provide her anything
beyond temporary shelter and minimal
financial assistance.

Out of work, out of money, with nowhere
else to turn, Sandi has turned to Jewish
Family Service, a Federation partner agency.
To get through this first bitter winter, Sandi
will need help with her job search, moving
expenses and rent. She'll need help with her
family's basic needs: groceries, car expenses
and clothing. Beyond that, to get back on

her feet, she'll need job retraining and
family counseling. Sandi is not a "case
study." She represents a real family who
needs rescue and relief. Not tomorrow.
Not next year. But right now.

Without your help, the needs of hundreds of
families like Sandi's will go unanswered this
year. In reading this a d,
