An exploration and discussion of the
major non-Jewish religions will be
the focus of a 10-week class at
Temple - Beth El 7-9 p.m. beginning
Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The class, "Comparative Religion:
Exploring Hinduism, Buddhism,
Chinese Philosophical Systems,
Christianity and Islam," will be led
by Professor David.Nowak, a teacher
in comparative religion and the
Bible as literature at Oakland
Community College.
The Tuesday sessions will begin
with an introduction to the study of
religions and continue Jan. 14 and
21 with a concentration on
Hinduism. On Jan. 28 and Feb. 4,
Professor Nowak will discuss
Buddhism. The Feb. 11 topic will be
"The Chinese Philosophical
Systems."
Classes will resume March 4 with
a two-session introduction to
Christianity. The two concluding
classes, March 18 and 25, will corn-
prise an introduction to Islam.
Cost of the course is $10 per ses-
sion for temple members ,and $15
per session for non-members. To

The Shul will present three opportu-
nities to learn from Rabbi Laibl
Wolf of Melbourne, Australia, and
the creator of MindYoga.
Through his meditation tech-
niques and MindYoga approach,
audiences are able to master their
emotions and empower their lives.
Rabbi Wolf will speak at a 6 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 20 Shabbat dinner on
"Don't Bare Your Body, Bare Your
Soul: The Kabbalah, Exploitation,
Love, and Commitment." On
Shabbat, at a noon lunch, he will
speak on "Mystical Songs And
Spiritual Tales."
On Saturday night at 8 p.m.,
there will be a seminar open to the
community titled "Mind-Yoga:
Where Yoga Meets Kabbalah:
Postures For Training Thought and
Emotion." This will be a practical
workshop, including Jewish medita-
tion, insight teachings, and wisdom
nurture.
