CABLE KIDS

Jessica. Elyse Upfall (Esther) was called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Dec. 14, at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue. She is
the daughter of
Rochelle and
Nathan Upfall and
sister of Josh. The .
proud grandparents
are Naomi and
Julius Harwood,
Lois and Emanuel
Mark, Wela Upfal. She is also the grand-
daughter of the late Charles Upfal.
Jessie is.a seventh-grade honor student
at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. She loves
tennis, skiing and spending time with
friends. During the summer, she enjoys
attending Tamarack Camps. Jessie was
pleased to volunteer in the nursery
school class at Adat Shalom during the
High Holidays. She also participated in
Hillel's Dor L'Dor program at the
Fleischman Residence in West
Bloomfield.

Out -Of-State

Lauren Caitlyn Coden was called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Aug. 31, at Congregation Beth Am in
San Diego, Calif. She is the daughter of
Liz and Dan Coden and sister of
Jacqueline and Benjamin. Proud grand-
parents are Betty and Fred Nederlander
of Franklin and Barbara and Ted Coden
of West Bloomfield. It was very mean-
ingful for her to have family and friends

from Detroit and
other parts of the
country to celebrate
her bat mitzvah.
Lauren is an
honor student at
Carmel Valley
Middle School in
San Diego. She is a
level six gymnast, a
soccer player and a leading pitcher in
girls softball. Her many interests include
tennis, skiing, traveling, theater, music
and spending time with family and
friends. Contributing to Kids Korps, a
group that helps children living in group
homes, has been a special volunteer proj-
ect for Lauren.

Connor Nathan Hough celebrated his
bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Nov. 16, at
Congregation Beth
Or in Springhouse,
Pa. He is the son of
Eric and Linda
(Bandalene) Hough,
formerly of
Southfield, and
brother of Alison.
His proud grandpar-
ents are Kal and Ada Bandalene of Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Southfield.
Connor attends Indian Valley Middle
School in Harleysville, Pa., where he is
an honor student. He enjoys basketball,
football, skateboarding and drawing. For
his mitzvah project, he volunteered at
his local library, assisting with the pre-
school and elementary school literacy
programs.
