Amanda Warner, daughter of
Linda and Allen Warner of
Farmington Hills, completed her
master's degree in public relations
and applied communications
research at Boston University. She is
employed as a research consultant
at Boston-based Marketing and
Planning Systems.

The Jewish Academy of
Metropolitan Detroit won trophies
for the West Bloomfield-based
school. The robotics team won for
most creative robot design and for
play of the day in a competition
organized by Oakland Schools.
Team members are Jordan Weiss,
Max Braverman, Katie Rosen,
Michael Diskin, Jeremy Levine,
Josh Blechman, David Stiebel,
David Chudnow, Brad Garden,
Dov Lerman-Sinkoff. Stu Schultz
is the head of the JAM.D science
department and robotics instructor.

Michael Traison, a principal in the
Detroit law firm of Miller,
Canfield, Paddock and Stone PLC,
was a guest speaker at the Lake
Shore Drive Synagogue in Chicago.
He discussed the status of Poland's
Jewish community?, Miller
Canfield's legal services in Poland
and an update of Poland's transition
to democracy and the state of its
economy as the country prepares to
join the European Union. Traison is
a member of the Polish American-
Jewish Arrierican Council and the
Poland American Chamber of
Commerce.

Phoebe Mainster of Bloomfield
Hills will receive a Distinguished
Alumni Award from Wayne State
University. She is a lecturer in the
WSU English department and a
former assistant director of compo-
sition in the department. For sever-
al weeks each summer for the past
32 years, she has taught English as
a second language in developing
nations on several continents.
Mainster is active in civic endeavors
and is particularly active in the
Jewish community. She is on the
hoard of advisers for WSU's Cohn-
Haddow Center for Judaic Studies
and chairs the Maas Foundation
Prize for Achievement in Jewish
Culture and Continuity, a program
of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
