He graduated with honors from Columbia University and from the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he was first in his class. He then served a two-year rotating internship at Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Goldstein enlisted in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in 1842, served as commander of a medical battalion in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star. At discharge, he held the rank of major in the medical corps. After the war, Dr. Goldstein received postgraduate training in internal medi- cine and neurology at the Cumberland Hospital and the Goldwater Memorial Hospital and earned medical specialty certification in internal medicine and neurology. Settling in Detroit in 1948, Dr. Goldstein served as medical director of the UAW Health Institute and as meet ical director of the Michigan Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. He then developed a large private practice of internal medi- cine and neurology in Detroit. Between 1952 and 1976, Dr. Goldstein served as an assistant clinical professor of neurolo- gy at Wayne State University School of Medicine, chief of neurology service at Sinai Hospital and as a member of the Medical staff of Detroit General Hospital. In 1976, Dr. Goldstein moved his family to Etna, N.H. During his second career in neurology, he was an adjunct assistant professor of neurology at Dartmouth Medical School and a teach- ing faculty member at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt. He also - • served as a neurology staff member of the New Hampshire Hospital and con- ducted a private practice in neurology in New London and Claremont, N.H. Dr. Goldstein is survived by his wife of 60 years, Blanche Goldstein of Etna; son, Roger Goldstein of Etna; grand- daughter, Rachel of Kansas City, Mo.; great-grandson Sam.
