Wood, plus dozens of other stars, wowed over 300 people at the 14th
annual Michigan Parkinson Gala and Auction at Park West Gallery in
Southfield. The benefit helped raise funds for the 39 Parkinson sup-
port groups in Michigan.
The evening began with a silent auction that included cruises, airline tickets,
hotel packages, jewelry and sports memorabilia. While bidding on their favorite
items, guests enjoyed food by Steve and Rocky's and the music of the Stewart
Broadway Band. Following the silent auction, guests were delighted with a live
auction containing original art by Salvador Dali, Peter Max, Itzchak Tarkay and
Linda Le Kinff. A pencil-signed Dali sold for $6,000 and an Al Capp signature
and drawing from the 1940s comic strip "Little Abner" sold at a top price.
Parkinson's disease has a special place in Park West owner Albert Scaglione's
heart. "My grandfather died of the disease and my wife IVIitsie and I want to do
everything we can to support the foundation and to help find a cure."
