ELIZABETH APPLEBAUM AppleTree Editor T his project is more than a little something, though many of the participants are small children themselves. Just before Thanksgiving, kindergartners at Hillel Day SChool of Metropolitan Detroit were busy preparing holiday cards, students throughout the school were buying gifts while staff members put their finishing touches on plans for "One Night of Chanukah" — a program to benefit children through- out metro Detroit. Each grade is participating by bringing in a wrapped gift, marked for the appro- priate age and sex. The presents will be given to one of eight (one for each night of Chanukah, of course) local agencies, including Lighthouse, Children's Hospital of Michigan, At-A-Glance 72 Figure It Out 73 The Big Question . . . .73 The Open Book • Beaumont Hospital of Royal Oak, Pontiac Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Orchards Children's Services in Southfield, HAVEN and Jewish Resettlement Service.
