Cabaret Night
At B'nai Moshe
Middle East
Focus Of Talk
Congregation B'nai Moshe will hold
its annual cabaret night 8 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 7, at the synagogue.
"Music Schmusic: Jewish Singers and
Songwriters and the Mothers Who Love
Them" will feature wide ranges of music.
Participating will be Cantor Earl Berris,
Larry Gunsberg, Ruth Katsnelson, Ezra
Kirshenbaum, Rena Kirshenbaum, Paula
Koscik, Barry Levine, Barbara Maxwell,
Zach Mondrow, Steve Rabinovitz, Dan
Sperling, Maggie Thirman and Stacy
Whelan.
The Klezmer Klezmaniacs will play
two songs. The narrator will be
Richard Corson. The co-directors are
Paula Koscik and Dan Sperling.
There is a donation of $10 per
person in advance or $12.50 at the
door, which includes refreshments.

"Persistent Middle East Dilemmas" will
be the focus of a Shabbat morning talk at
Congregation T'chiyah on Saturday, Nov.
23.
Frederic S. Pearson, director at the
Center for Peace and Conflict Studies
and the Program on Mediating Theory
and Democratic Systems at Wayne State
University in Detroit, will speak on the
ongoing challenges of the Arab-Israeli
and Iraq-Gulf dilemmas.
He is an authority in international
military intervention, arms transfer effects
on wars and ethnic conflict analysis. He
has written extensively on arms trade and
crisis behavior. In 2000, Dr. Pearson was
designated a conflict resolution consult-
ant to the U.S. Commission on National
Security-21st Century in Washington,
D.C.

Sisterhood celebrated its annual fall
membership dinner and fashion
show on Oct. 30, coordinated by
Marcia Tanzman.
President Ellen Racusin presented
the newly established Women's
League for Conservative Judaism
Todah Rabah certificates to Ann
Barth, Helen Miller and Helen Moss
for outstanding service to the sister-
hood. Barth is a former membership
vice president, recording secretary and
member of many committees; she's
current co-chair of Sisterhood
Education Day. Miller was honored
for her many years of direction and
expertise as liaison between sisterhood
and the annual JCC Book Fair. Moss
arranged speakers during the four-ses-
sion sisterhood fall lunch and learn
series.
Torah Fund Chair Tibie Rudofsky
acknowledged the guardians and
benefactors of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of America.
Vickie Salinger of the membership
committee presented the Sisterhood
Cookbook Vol. I to the 18 new mem-
bers of sisterhood.
