exhibitions at Michigan State
University Museum, 1:45 pm on

Sunday. No 24, 2002. Exhibitions are
"Varian Fry: Assignment Rescue,"
from the U.S. Holocaust Museum and
"Uneasy Years: Michigan Jewry During
Depression and War." Reception
follows.

Bus transportation available from the
Jewish Community Center parking
lot, 6600 W. Maple at Drake in
W. Bloomfield, leaving 12:15 pm
returning about 5:15 pm
Transportation is S17 per person.

MORRIS D. SERWIN, 82, of
Farmington Hills, died Nov. 17,
2002. He was the founder and owner
of Serwin Auto Electric, a longtime
member of the Morganthau Lodge of
B'nai B'rith, member of the National
0-Zone Association, Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and
its men's club.
Mr. Serwin is sur-
vived by his wife,
Sylvia Serwin; son
and daughter-in-law,
Jeffrey and Donna
SerWin of Orchard
Lake; daughter and
son-in-law, Suzie
Morris Serwin
and John Potter of
Huntington Woods;
grandsons,
Benjamin and Joshua Potter; sister,
Rose Rodd of Florida; sisters-in-law,
Dorothy Serwin and Sylvia Surowitz.
He was the loving brother of the late
Harry Serwin, the late George
Surowitz and the late Louis Surowitz;
dear brother-in-law of the late Ethel
Surowitz and the late Jospeh Rodd.

ROSE STAMELL, 92, of Farmington

Hills, died Nov. 4, 2002. Born in
Poland, she and her family reunited
with their father in Detroit in 1920.
She worked at Eastern Market with

her father in the wholesale grocery
market, played golf at Palmer Park
and attended Wayne State University.
Mrs. Stamell is survived by her hus-
band, Dr. Meyer Stamell; daughters
and son-in-law, Rhoda Stamell of
Farmington Hills, Sheila and Jan van
der Marck of Huntington Woods,
Marcia Stamell of Massachusetts; son
and daughter-in-law, Joseph and
Adrienne Stamell of Huntington
Woods; grandchildren, Robin and
Peter Fisher, Josh Pollack, Erik and
Jacqueline Stamell, Rachel Havrelock
and Yuri Lane, Jake Stamell; great-
grandchildren, Zoe and Allie Fisher,
Alex Stamell; sister, Marion Coleman
of Farmington Hills; brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Daniel and Rhoda
Schwartz of Oak Park.
Interment at Clover Hill Park

LLOYD J. WEINGARDEN, 75, of
Fairfield Glade, Tenn. and Tampa,
Fla., died Nov. 14, 2002. Before retir-
ing, he spent his life in the Detroit
area.
He was vice president of McKinley
Corporation of Ann Arbor, and he
managed shopping centers and office
buildings. He was a former president
of the Institute of Real Estate
Management, Detroit Chapter.
During his retirement, he was an
active member of the Crossville
Kiwanis Club. He also was instru-
mental in creating a Jewish presence
in the Crossville, Tenn., area by help-
ing-to build and support a small
Jewish group called the Upper
Cumberland Jewish Community.
Mr. Weingarden is survived by his
wife of 52 years, Helen; son and
daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathleen
Weingarden of West Bloomfield; son-
in-law, Paul Anderberg of Crossville;
sister, Marlene Bez of West
Bloomfield; grandchildren, Zachary,
Gregory and Paul Weingarden; sister-
in-law, Elaine Weingarden of Detroit;
brother-in-law, Fred Menders of
Commerce Township. He was the
dear father of the late Terri
Weingarden; brother of the late
Eugene and Stanley Weingarden.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may
be made to the Karmanos Hospice,
24601 Northwestern Highway,
Southfield, MI 48075 or to a charity
of one's choice. Arrangements by
Dorfman Chapel.
