Ibn Gabriol, and an orchestral piece commissioned by the Chabad- Lubavitch Foundation of Michigan had its roots in the gematria, the system of Jewish numerology. Jewish Honor On Feb. 3, the Jewish Communi- ty Center's Festival Dancers, for whom Mrs. Lebenbom had written several compositions, co-presented her with a special lifetime award for her contributions to Jewish artistic expression at the Jewish Women in the Arts awards. In November 1997, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra premiered Mrs. Lebenbom's orchestral tour de force, Kaleidoscope Turning, which was performed on 550 radio stations nationally and internationally. After his wife's death, David Lebenbom received a call from the New York City Ballet. In her memo- ry, the ballet will choreograph Kaleidoscope Turning for perform- ance next year in New York. "It's very hard to describe the feel- ing you have for someone you are so close to for so many years," David Lebenbom said about his wife. "But, in retrospect, I can say: I've met popes, kings and presidents — but she was the most remarkable person I ever met." Mrs. Lebenbom is survived by her husband, David Lebenbom; daugh- ters and sons-in-law, Dr. Miriam Lebenbom-Mansour and Dr. Alfred Mansour of Franklin, Sally and Don Keaton of Grand Rapids; sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Andrea Lebenbom of West Bloomfield, Michael and Dr. Kaudia Lebenbom of Birmingham; grand- children, Joshua and Moriah Mansour, Benjamin and Shayna Keaton, Steven and Daniel Lebenbom and Sonja Lebenbom; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Gail Friedman of Illinois; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Edward Klarman of Southfield; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Milton and Marjorie Lebenbom, Pearl and Tony Bellom.
