The son of a sausage maker and a grocer, he made an art out of tearing off a piece of butcher paper and wrapping meat in it. But he also was known as the "butcher psychiatrist" because he had a knack for listening to and understanding the problems of cus- tomers — giving them advice and lifting their spirits with a warm smile and a humorous story. Mr. Feldman, 81, of West Bloomfield, the co-founder of Feldbro Quality Meats, died of lung cancer on Nov. 7, 2002. He operated the store for 50 years, the last 14 at the current location of Middlebelt and 14 Mile roads in Farmington Hills. He was diagnosed with the disease three years ago, but "he never paid attention to it ... he never let it get him down," said his daughter-in-law Linda Feldman of West Bloomfield.
