Guests can bid on a variety of items. The auction will feature the return of the Akiva Dream Raffle. The grand prize will be $10,000 if 200-250 tickets are sold. Should fewer tickets be sold, the winner will split the pot, receiving half of the proceeds. A Chinese auction is a combina- tion of raffle and traditional auc- tion: Guests buy and apportion their tickets among the various items being auctioned. Each item's winner is selected by drawing a tick- et from a box holding all the tickets bid for it. Auction proceeds will be used for educational programs. One-third of Akiva's students are on some form of scholarship; no student is turned away because of financial need. Auction catalogues will be available prior to the event. Gift coupon pack- ages are available at a discount if pur- chased by Dec. 4. Those not able to attend the auction may bid on items by mail, fax or phone by Dec. 4. Akiva. cannot take responsibility for bids not received by the deadline. For auction or raffle tickets or for information, call Adell Kleid, (248) 386-1625.
