Women's Foundation, the Beaumont
Heart Center will host a panel dis-
cussion 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at
the William Beaumont Hospital,
3601 W. 13 Mile, Royal Oak.
Speakers will include cardiologist
Dr. Pamela Marcovitz, on heart dis-
ease and hormone replacement ther-
apy; gynecologist Dr. William R.
Keye Jr., on menopausal symptoms
and HRT; and oncologist Dr. David
Decker, on cancer risk and HRT.

Verizon Wireless will award JVS a
$20,000 grant for a literacy program
for economically disadvantaged indi-
viduals in the city of Detroit.
The donation will fund a comput-
er learning instructor, who will help
JVS program participants upgrade
their academic skills and enable
them to qualify for jobs that will
as s ist them in becoming self-suffi-
cient.

Historical Society
To Tour Detroit

The Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan has scheduled a narrated
bus tour of old Jewish Detroit
Sunday, Oct. 27.
Narrator Adele Staller will lead the
group past many areas of Jewish set-
tlement. The bus s will stop at Beth
Olem Cemetery in Hamtramck.
The group will meet at 12:15 p.m.
at the Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Southfield parking lot, depart at
12:30 p.m. and return between 4:30
and 5 p.m. There is a charge of $15
for members and $20 for non-mem-
bers.
