They need our help.
"Out of work but not out of hope."
,
Following Sept 11, I was laid off from my job as a pilot. Within weeks, my
wife was placed on complete bed rest due to a complication of her pregnancy.
For months, our family was in crisis in every way. Had we not turned to Jewish
Family Service for help with the monthly bills, I don't know what we would
have done."

Thanks to you and our Federation family, Barry, age 36, has returned to work.
Mother and new baby are doing fine. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of
families like Barry's in our community. Our Jewish Family Service reports an
alarming increase in requests for emergency assistance and counseling, and
longer waiting lists than ever. You can help. Make your pledge today.

"What does it take to feel safe in Israel?"
"What will happen on the street today, will my family
come home tonight?" For ordinary Israelis, any day can
be the last day they see a loved .one. More than 12,300
pre-meditated acts of violence have taken the lives of more
than 600 Israelis and seriously injured more than 4000
since October 2000.
Under constant and indiscriminate' attack, Israel has cut
close to $2 billion from the very programs that help those
who struggle even in good times. Federation dollars help fund
added neighborhood security, keep children safe in extended
school programs and comfort victims of terror. Your gift is
urgently needed now. Please give generously today.

"As long as we have each other."
"We want do to as much as we can for as long as we can. But
living with Alzheimer's has changed everything." When Ruben
first brought his wife, Rose, to the Peter & Dorothy Brown
Jewish Adult Day Care Program, he had no idea he'd find such a
caring group of people. "They've been like family to me."
Rose is one of the "fortunate" few. Hundreds of older and frail
adults in our community still suffer from isolation and dire
need. Federation's ElderLink network of agencies reports a
growing client base, and longer waiting lists for services. We
can't keep up with the demand, unless we keep up our support.
You can do your share. Please make your pledge today.

SUPER SUNDAY • OCTOBER 20
On Sunday, hundreds of volunteers will be phoning our community on behalf of
Federation's 2003 Annual Campaign. Their goal? To help, to heal and to rescue
lives. Our brothers and sisters in Israel are crying for our help. Our family of
agencies here in metro Detroit needs us more than ever. So please answer the call
and increase your gift to Federation's Annual Campaign. Nothing you can do on
Sunday will touch more lives.
