Our Call to Action A letter from the heart My Dear Friends, I am writing, to you today with a heart filled with hope. It is my hope that you share the dreams I dream: for peace in the state of Israel, for the well being of our Jewish community worldwide, and for the future of our own families here in our home city. It is my hope that you feel as I do that we are responsible for one another, and that we have the resolve, the power and the resources to make a difference in this world. I have lived through nearly a century of American history. I have rejoiced at the birth of the modern state of our beloved Israel. I have traveled the world, as a businessman, a statesman, and an ambas- sador of good will for our great Detroit Jewish community. My name stands on the Max M. Fisher Federation Building, but more significantly, I stand fiercely proud of our community's achievements. But I am here to tell you our work is not done. Israel is in crisis, fighting a war on terrorism with no sign of relief. Our brothers and sisters there are crying for our help.. Struggling in the aftermath of 9/11, we, ourselves, face uncertainty on many fronts here at home. In our own community our agencies, our schools and synagogues are burdened with more requests from families in distress than ever. Our work now requires the strength and support of each member of our community. And that's why I'm asking you to search your heart today and do what you can do to increase your pledge to Federation's 2003 Annual Campaign. Through Federation, we stand united, we speak with a common voice, and we are heard. Your gift will touch so many lives. Please, give generously. On behalf of a grateful community, my heartfelt thanks. • •• •• • • • ' • • ' • FEDERATIONS 10/18 2002 74 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN 2003 This is Fede
