this past summer at the Beth Ahrri day
camp.

Chelsea deMarrais, daughter of Ellen
and Gilbert deMarrais and sister of
Brett, will celebrate
her bat mitzvah on
Friday, Oct. 18, at
Temple Israel. Her
grandfather is
Benjamin Kramer.
She is also the
granddaughter of
the late Ruth
Kramer and'the late
Janet and Gilbert
deMarrais.
Chelsea is an honor student at
Orchard Lake Middle School in West
Bloomfield. She likes to dance and
attend Camp Walden in Cheboygan.
As part of her mitzvah projects, she
found donating funds to the National
Jewish Hospital in Denver especially
meaningful. Chelsea did this in mem-
ory of her grandmother, who had been
very active on the volunteer board of
the hospital.

James Ryan Greenberg Hazan (Jamie)
was called to the Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Saturday,
Oct. 12, at Temple
Emanu-El. Sharing
in this special occa-
sion were his par-
ents Julie and Stan
Hazan, brother
Josh, sister Rebecca
and grandmothers
Tenny Greenberg
and Rachel Hazan.
Jamie is also the grandson of the late
Ronald Greenberg and the late David
Hazan.
Jamie is an eighth-grade honor stu-
dent at Norup Middle School in Oak
Park. He enjoys basketball, summers
at Camp Tamakwa in Canada and
playing drums with his band. For his
mitzvah project, Jamie volunteered as
a counselor-in-training with the
