At Tuesday Forum

A candidates' forum sponsored by
Jewish communal organizations will
be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22,
at the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building in Bloomfield Township.
U.S. Rep. Joe Knollenberg, a
Republican, and Democrat David
Fink, candidates in the 9th
Congressional District race, have
been invited to participate.
Other candidates will be from
Michigan House races in West
Bloomfield-Commerce Township,
Farmington-Farmington Hills,
Birmingham-Bloomfield, Southfield
and Oak Park-Huntington Woods.
Proponents and opponents of
Proposal 02-4A, a constitutional
amendment to reallocate tobacco
settlement funds, will speak.
The forum is sponsored by the
Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit. Co-sponsors
include the Anti-Defamation
League, B'nai B'rith Great Lakes
Region-Center for Public Policy,
Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah, Israel Cancer Association
of Michigan, Labor Zionist Alliance,
Michigan Coalition on the
Environment and Jewish Life and
National Council of Jewish Women.

Volunteers Aid
Older Adults

The Jewish Community Chaplaincy
Program, which aids frail Jewish older
adult living in care facilities, and the
JHAS Guardianship Program will offer
parachaplaincy guardianship volunteer
training.
The free session will be 7-9 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Jewish Home &
Aging Services, Fleischman Residence
in West Bloomfield. The topic is:
"How to Enhance the Jewish Care
Experience: The Parachaplain's Role
and the Guardianship Volunteer's
Role."
Speakers will include Rabbi A.
Irving Schnipper and Rabbi David
Polter, chaplain; Carol Winter, JHAS
Guardianship Program manager; and
volunteer parachaplains Paul
Lefkowitz, Libby Ben Moche and
Natalie Sunshine.
