Mak-A-Dream
Sets Fund-Raiser
The Friends of Camp Mak-A-Dream,
Michigan Chapter, will present the
Cookies 'N Dreams fund-raiser 5-8
p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Somerset
Collection North in Troy.
The public can taste cookies from
participating bakeries and cast votes for
the best in six categories. Celebrity
judges will be on hand to taste and cast
their votes as well.
The event raises funds for camper-
ships to Camp Mak-A-Dream, a cost-
free camp located in Montana for chil-
dren and young adults with cancer.
Sponsors for the event include camp
founders Sylvia and Harry Granader.
Co-chairs for the event are Cathy and
Nate Forbes and Kathy Broock Ballard.
Tickets are $55 for adults and $200
for patrons. Children younger than 17
pay their age. For information, call

Dr. Eran Lerman, executive director of
the American Jewish Committee's
Israel-Middle East Office, will present
an update on Israel's security issues and
the Middle East peace process at a
breakfast meeting

Dr. Lerman has
enjoyed a distinguished career in the
Israel Defense Forces, where he spent
most of the last 18 years in the
Directorate of Military Intelligence
Research and Production Division, ris-
ing to the rank of colonel and holding
the position of assistant for strategic
analysis. He directs the American Jewish
Committee's Israel-Middle Fast Office
that strengthens the links between Israel
and American Jewry and works toward
the goal of a secure and peaceful Jewish
state in an atmosphere of pluralism and
democracy.
