STAR DELI

STAR'S TRAYS CAN'T BE BEAT
FOR QUALITY & PRICE!

IS ONE OF THE BEST CARRY OUT ONLY
RESTAURANTS IN AMERICA!

"The sketch we did was called, 'The
Russian Soldier.' Jack, dressed in a
Russian uniform, made his entrance
calling to me, his wife.
"'Natasha! Natasha! At last I am
home from the wars. Four long years I
have been away!' When he spread his
arms out to embrace me, he found he
could not get close to me because a
pillow was strapped to my stomach
under my housedress. After trying
many ways to embrace me, he finally
stopped. Realizing I was pregnant, he
pointed to my stomach and shouted,
Aha! Who did that?'
"I did not answer.
"Aha!' he shouted again, 'Was it my
good friend Boris?'
"I shook my head 'no.'
"Aha!' he guessed again. 'Was it my
good friend Pertronovich?'
"I still shook my head.
"Now, really demanding to know, he
asked, 'Which one of my friends did that?'
"I just looked at him with great
pride and said, 'Don't you think I've
got friends of my own?"'
AFTER A THREE-YEAR stint at
the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit,
the Kevin Gio Class Act duo is now at
Justin & Jordyn Chophouse ... Fourth
and Lafayette in Royal Oak.
The two gents play a lot of music ...
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings ... big on jazz, contemporary,
pop, standards, etc.
THE FIRST BLACK TIE Ball by
Partners group of Barbara Ann
Karmanos Institute was back in 1994 ...
and drew an attendance of about 150.
Its recent biggie at Ritz-Carlton,
Dearborn, brought around 550 ... and
raised a whopping amount.
Hors d'oeuvres galore passed among
the large turnout bidding in the silent
auction ... Then on to dinner, live auc-
tion, dancing to Horizon and floor
show featuring a lively singing quartet.
Great stuff at the silent auction ...
but Estelle Robinson and Sheila Sloan
both had their eyes on the amethyst
necklace and earrings ... and kept out-
bidding each other ... until Estelle final-
ly won out ... wanting it so much she.
went well over the appraised amount.
Mike Stone, WDFN sportscaster,
did a fine job as emcee at the dinner
... Lila and Gil Silverman gracious in
their acceptance as 2002 honorees ...
Eunice and Milt Ring never looking
better ... Mary Lou and Mort Zieve
always so popular ... Dolores and
Seymour Brode ambassadors of many
hellos ... Lorraine Blanck introducing
"my date," her son Stanford.
