Mark and Patty Werner
contracted with Gittleman
Construction to renovate roughly 3,000
square feet of their Upper Straits Lake
1111111111111i11111
home in West Bloomfield, they didn't
expect company president Scott Gittleman
to be included in the deal.
But his involvement, and genuine interest
throughout the extensive job is one of the
things that impressed the Werners most.
"It was a pleasant surprise to see Scott
so much," said Patty. "He was genuinely
concerned and as interested in a
successful project as we were. We are
extremely impressed with the work
Gittleman did for us."
So, if you're looking to add-on or
remodel, why not put one of Southeast
Michigan's most trusted names in
residential construction to work for you?
From our president to all our valued skilled trades people, we will exceed your highest expectations
with our emphasis on function, aesthetics and budget.

Jon E. Levin, a commercial leasing
and sales agent for Griffin Property
Group in Southfield, is the
Democratic candidate for the
Oakland County Board of
Commissioners in the 13th district.
The district is bounded by M-59
and Long Lake, Dequindre and
Adams roads. It has
a population of
approximately
48,000 living in
northern Troy,
southern Rochester
Hills and northeast-
ern Bloomfield
Township.
Levin describes
Oakland County as
"a microcosm of the
entire state," con-
taining wilderness,
industry and neigh-
borhoods.
"The manner in
which Oakland
County residents
govern themselves
has great impact on Jon E. Levin
the state's economy,
environment, safety
and health, and
general welfare," he said. "Many of
our challenges are regional in nature.
I am eager to serve at the county
level to help address some of these
challenges."
Levin vows to "work across party
lines with the region's best interests
in mind."
Water quality issues are one of his
priorities — one reason, he says, that
he sought to be elected county drain
commissioner two years ago.
"I believe that Michiganders, situ-
ated in the midst of the Great Lakes,
have a . special role as stewards of the
Great Lakes ecosystem," he said.
"And I believe we can do a better job
than we are doing."
Levin cited the National Wildlife
Federation as having given the state
of Michigan a "D" grade in its han-
dling of water pollution caused by
runoff. "There are 1.2 million people
in Oakland County. We use and dis-
charge approximately 100 billion
gallons of water a day," he said.
"Our activities of daily living should
not be a source of deterioration in
the water quality of the Great

Lakes," he added. "Indeed, one of
the arguments put forward by those
who would make Great Lakes water
a trade commodity is that we, the
residents of the mighty mitten, have
not been responsible stewards.
"In other words, those who wish
to export our water will ask us how
we can presume to
impose restrictions to
protect this resource
if we ourselves are
squandering it."
Levin, 51, grew up
in Huntington
Woods. He earned a
bachelor's degree in
psychology from
Oakland University
and a master's degree
in public health from
the University of
Michigan.
Levin has worked
in the field of med-
ical care quality
assurance and cost
containment. He has
been a manager with
the Michigan State
Medical Society, Blue
Cross and Blue
Shield of Michigan and the Mutual
of Omaha Companies.
Since 1994, Levin has worked in
urban renewal, historic preservation
and property management in Detroit
and Pontiac. His work is on behalf
of limited partnerships concerned
with making distressed neighbor-
hoods more economically viable.
Levin's community involvement
includes serving as vice president of
the Shaker Heights Subdivision
Association and on the board of the
United Home Owner Associations of
Bloomfield Township. He has been a
board member of Detroit Chapter of
the American Jewish Committee and
president of Midlands Chapter of
the International Society of Certified
Employee Benefit Specialists. He
also was a founding board member
of the Pontiac Downtown Business
Association.
Levin and his wife of 19 years,
Nancy, have two children.
