At M.B. Jewelry, we are the designers.

O

ast year in our October issue, we profiled five courageous
breast cancer survivors for breast cancer awareness month.
This year we spoke to five physicians treating the disease.
J Although approximately 182,000 women in the United States
will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, these compassionate doc-
tors inform us that the outcomes are promising. Yes, the incidence of
breast cancer is still alarming, but through early detection and targeted
treatment the survival rate is better than ever. Style at the Jewish News
salutes all the physicians and survivors battling and conquering this dis-
ease.
On a lighter note, we attended the 60th birthday of JVS at the Fox
Theatre with entertainer Jay Leno. Leno was gracious as he mingled
with the patrons before the performance and ever so amusing on stage.
I'm all smiles with Leno in the photo, thanks to Shelley Tauber who
just nudged me toward him.
Speaking of Shelley and Joel Tauber, we also feature the installation
by artist Dina Kawer inside the new chapel at Congregation Beth Ahm
made possible by the generosity of the Taubers. Linda Bachrack inter-
viewed this awesome artist, while photographer Krista Husa captured
her spiritual designs. "The room called for a calm, spiritual, elegant
design,” said Kawer.
As we begin the New Year, I wish you all a calm, spiritual and
healthy year.

Sincerely,
