Dinner co-chairs are Debbie Balkin, Ellie Glen and Judy Kepes. Susie and Norm Pappas are this year's honorees. Dinner fund-raising co-chairs are Diane and Emery Klein. Richard Simtob and Allan Lefton are dinner program journal co-chairs. Dinner and program journal rev- enue, which accounts for a major por- tion of Yad Ezra's annual budget, is used to buy groceries for the Berkley- based.agencyss client families. Yad Ezra provides food and health care items to 2,450 individuals every month. This year, a corps of volunteers and financial supporters will enable the food pantry to distribute 750,000 pounds of food to needy families. The Pappases have been instrumen- tal in helping raise fluids for Yad Ezra. She has served as a dinner co-chair in the past, volunteered in the warehouse and serves on the board of directors. JWV Retires Flags Sunday The Charles Shapiro Post of the Jewish War Veterans will sponsor a flag retirement ceremony (flag burn- ing) 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, in the parking lot of the JWV Memorial Home, 16990 W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield. Flag burning is the preferred method of flag disposal when flags are badly worn or torn. The ceremony, under the direction of Post Commander Burt Ellstein, program chair Hy Deal and adviser Jim Weiskopf, will involve, several members of the post along with two buglers. Following the ceremony, cider and doughnuts will be served by the Ladies Auxiliary._ Anyone with a flag needing proper disposal may contact Hy Deal, (248) 968-7236. The program is open to the public.
