Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel. IRVEN LEIDER, 81, of Oak Park, died Sept. 27. He was born in Poland and came to America in 1929. He was a graduate of Wilbur Wright Technical Academy in Detroit and stud- ied residential and construction engi- neering and man- agement at Wayne State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Irven Leider World War II and he learned and taught link training and instrument- only flying. Mr. Leider was a founding mem- ber and first vice president of Congregation Beth Shalom. He also served on the synagogue's building committee and was the volunteer general contractor for its construc- tion. From the 1950s to the 1990s, Mr. Leider was a general contractor and builder of custom homes and major subdivision developments. He was a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly, B'nai B'rith, the Jewish War Veterans, Knights of Pythias and a fixture at the Woodward Dream Cruise and the Oak Park Fourth of July parade in his 1941 Dodge. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eileen (Schwartz) Leider; chil- dren, Robert and Helene Leider, Leslie and Janet Leider, Aaron Leider, David and Darlene Leider; grandchildren, Jonathon, Dana, Becca, Joanie, Michael; sisters, Schifra Leider Henry, Goldie Reichstein, Edith (Dr. Milton) Simmons.
