Jewish Culture, the second annual
Jewish Image Awards in Film and
Television ceremony was held Sept. 24
at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly
Hills. The event honors industry pro-
fessionals in recognition of outstand-
ing presentations of the Jewish experi-
ence and portrayals of Jewish charac-
ters through film and television
Jeffrey Tambor hosted the event,
and presenters included Matthew
Perry, Doris Roberts, Shiri Appleby,
Ann Tisch and more.
Recipients at last year's inaugural
event included Richard Schiff (The
West Wing), Rachel Weisz (Enemy at the
Gates), Steven Weber (Club Land) and
Hannah Taylor-Gordon (Anne Frank).
Also receiving awards were Rugrats
(Nickelodeon/Klasky-Csupo), Anne

cinematic history with his anti-
Nazi comedy The Great

Frank (ABC), Varian's War (Showtime),
Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the
Kindertransport (Oppenheimer/Harris),
The West Wing (NBC) and Backstog:
Gentleman's Agreeement (AMC).
Arthur Hiller was the Tisch Lifetime
Achievement Award winner and the
Morningstar Commission's "Woman of
Inspiration" Award went to Patti Felker.
This year, a distinguished Jewish
Image Awards selection committee of
12 professionals, representing a cross-
section of the entertainment industry,
chose honorees in eight film and tele-
vision categories.
Also honored were Jerry Offsay,
president, programming, Showtime
Networks Inc., with the Tisch Lifetime
Achievement Award, presented by Jon
Voight; and Sheila Nevins, executive
vice president of original program-
ming, HBO, with the Morningstar
Commission's "Woman of Inspiration"
Award, presented by Ann Tisch. ❑
