The best part, or perhaps the most frustrating, is that the learning never ends. The search for knowl- edge is never over. You can always make yourself a better person, a bet- ter Jew. Life's most beautiful lessons lie not only in our minds, but also deep within our spiritual souls. Simcha Tzippys View Doing Partners in Torah has been one of the most rewarding and ful- filling experiences of my life. Being able to provide Elyse with some of the richness of our Jewish heritage, and hopefully answer some of the questions she had about Judaism, has felt indescribably good. Preparing for Partners each week (and answering Elyse's constant questions) has forced me to learn and study about things that I would otherwise not have known. In addition to these obvious bene- fits, I am lucky because I have acquired for myself a lifelong friend. Looking at us, both coming from such different religious back- grounds, one might think we have nothing in common to keep our friendship going. But a strong feel- ing of Jewishness is our common ground. Our relationship has been so much more than an hour a week. I feel that I am a part of Elyse's life, and I'm sure she feels part of mine. I admire Elyse greatly in the way she strives for growth, and searches for the truth. I am proud to be her friend. Even from far away, we hope to continue being a part of each other's lives, and con- tinue learning from each other. As far as Partners goes, maybe when we're both in Detroit over the summers, we'll make it back there on Tuesday nights, picking up where we left off.
