Caryn (Dorfman) and Aaron
Weitzman of Bloomfield Hills are
thrilled to announce the birth of
their son, Ethan Scott (Moshe
Sander). Sharing in their happiness
are first-time grandparents Jenny
and Lazer Dorfman and Shelly and
Ray Weitzman. Also sharing in their
joy are great-grandparents Sara and
Max Berlin and great-great-grand-
mother Fannie Whiteman. Ethan
Scott is named in loving memory of
his maternal grandfather Max Young
and his maternal and paternal grand-
mothers Sara Dorfman and Sylvia
Weitzman.

Baruch (Bryan) and Atara (Shoham)
Simkovitz of Safed, Israel, joyfully
announce the birth of their son,
Shmuel. Welcoming him home are
brothers Netanel, Ariel, Yedidya, Yair
and sister Sapir Chana. Proud grand-
parents are Dr. Wilbert and Elsie
Simkovitz of Oak Park and Gedalia
and Amalia Shoham of Rehovot,
Israel.

July 19
Mindy (Donenfeld) and Guillaume
Liron of Brea, Calif., announce with
much love and joy the birth of their
son, Gabriel Benjamin (Benyamin
Gabriel). Welcoming Gabriel home
are excited big sisters Rebecca and
Emilie. Sharing in their happiness
are grandparents Toni and Jean-
Pierre Liron of Paris, France, and
Sheila and Mike Donenfeld of West
Bloomfield. Gabriel is named in lov-
ing memory of his maternal great-
grandfather Benjamin Gordon and
his paternal uncle Gregory Liron.

July 18
Amy (Garner) and Joshua Berris of
Berkley joyfully announce the birth
of their daughter, Adriane Sophia
(Vadit Tzofia). Very happy grandpar-
ents are Karen and Fred Gluckson of
West Bloomfield, Marvin and Jane
Berris of Farmington Hills and Joan
and Mitch Garner of Solebury, Pa.
Delighted great-grandmother is
Andrea Anderson of Worcester,
Mass. Adriane is named in loving
memory of her maternal grandmoth-
er Vada Henricks and great-grand-
mother Sophia Anderson.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Isaac Adler will celebrate his bar mitz-
vah on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Shul.
He is the son of Diane and Dr. Alan
Adler. Proud grandparents are Don
and Thelma Kaplan and Jack Adler.
Isaac attends Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington
Hills. He enjoys skateboarding, water-
skiing, surfing and aviation. For his
mitzvah project, Isaac entertained
Jewish seniors in West Bloomfield and
Oak Park with his piano playing.

Jonathan Ben-Ze'ev (Yonatan Liron)
of Huntington Woods will become a
bar mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek Southfield on Sunday, Sept.
22. Participating in the service will be
his parents, Dana and Abraham Ben--'
Ze'ev, along with his sister Leora.
Proud grandparents are Dr. Jerome
and Hadassah Stein
of Providence, R.I.,
and Mrs. Menucha
Kunianski of Oak
Park.
Jonathan is an
honor student at
Hillel Day School
of Metropolitan
Detroit in
Farmington Hills.
He enjoys everything connected with
hockey and summers, at Habonim
Camp Tavor. His mitzvah projects
included Bagels and Socks, for which
he collected hundreds of pairs of socks
to donate to Capuchin Services; help-
ing in a JARC home and participating
in the Dor L'Dor program with senior
citizens.

Steven Charles Cornfield will be
called to the Torah on the occasion of
his bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, Sept. 21. His parents are
Kristen and Dr. David Cornfield and
his brother is Bryan. Excited grand-
parents are Sharyn and Dr. Alan
Cornfield and Cyd
and Lawrence
Demrick. His
proud great-grand-
mother is Louise
Demrick.
An honor stu-
dent at Orchard
Lake Middle
School in West
Bloomfield, Steven
plays in-line hockey and enjoys video
games and using the computer. He
worked at Temple Israel's Labor Day
picnic as part of his mitzvah projects.
