Cohn-Haddow
Holds Lecture

The Cohn-Haddow Center for Judaic
Studies and the Agency for Jewish
Education will co-sponsor a free local
lecture with Spertus Dean Phillip Bell
Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
Titled "Between Sorcery and Science:
The Role of Magic in Medieval Jewish
Life," the presentation will be held at
the Janice Charach Epstein Gallery in
the Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
Dr. Bell is dean of the Spertus
Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago
and special consultant for
Institutional Research, Self-Study and
Assessment at Hebrew Theological
College, Skokie, Ill.

Program Focus:
Recalling 9-11

Remembering the tragedy of 9-11,
B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region's
Enlighten America program and
Temple Israel will present Dr. Michael
Fowlin, actor, psychologist, poet, in
his one-person show on diversity,
"You Don't Know Me, Until You
Know Me."
Dr. Fowlin has spent many years
performing at high schools and work-
ing extensively
with teenagers
across the country.
He portrays male
and female charac-
ters of different
ethnic back-
grounds who react
to the discrimina-
tion they suffer.
The event will
be held at Temple
Dr. Fowlin
Israel 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 29.
Charges range from $18 for general
seating to $25 for preferred seating to
$50 for patron seating. Patrons will be
listed on the program and will be invit-
ed to join an afterglow. Students 18
and younger are free if accompanied by
a paid adult.
Proceeds from the event will benefit
both B'nai B'rith's Enlighten America
project and programs at Temple Israel.
