Judaic Classes
Set For Fall
Local Judaic studies classes will
begin the week of Monday, Sept.
30, through the Agency for Jewish
Education Lifelong Learning
Department.
"Parshat Hashavuah," a new
course on the weekly Torah portion
exploring each portion, including
commentaries both traditional and
modern, will meet 12:1 0-1:1 0 p.m.
Wednesdays.
"Priests, Prophets and Kings: The
First Book of Samuel," a course dis-
cussing the personalities that shaped
the first kingdom in. Israel, will be
10:30 a.m.-noon Wednesdays.
"Inside the Rabbinic Mind," an
exploration of Talmud, commen-
taries and other genres of rabbinic
literature, will be 10:30 a.m.-noon
Tuesdays and 7:30-9 p.m.
Wednesdays.
Students may register for either
section. These classes will be taught
by Rabbi Rod Glogower, rabbinic
resource of the B'nai B'rith Hillel
Foundation at the University of
Michigan.
Basya Fishman, a teacher locally
at Machon L'Torah and Partners in
Torah, will offer "Sacred
Conversations: Exploring the
Psalms," a series for women only
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursdays.
Judaic studies classes meet at the
Max M. Fisher Federation Building

Family Shabbat
At Adat Shalom
Adat Shalom Synagogue will host
new members at a family Shabbat
Sukkot service and dinner 6 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 20.
Special entertainment has been
planned for children following din-
ner.
The event is chaired by Cindy
Nagel.
There is an $18 charge for adults
and a $10 charge for children older
than 3. New member families are
