The trips are open to the public as well as JCC members. All fees include round-trip transportation on a motor coach. Il Trovatore by Verdi will be performed at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Detroit Opera House. The fee is $78 for JCC members and $86 for non-members. Also at the Detroit Opera House are Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti and Swan Lake as performed by the Bolshoi Ballet. The JCC Travel Department will go to Don Pasquale on Friday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 a.m. Tickets for this performance are $36 for JCC members and $46 for non-members. Swan Lake will be performed Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $79 for JCC members and $89 for non-members. On Saturday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m., the JCC Travel Department will go to see Mark Twain, the one-man show starring Hal Holbrook at Detroit's Fisher Theatre. Tickets are $68 for JCC members and $78 for non-members. 42nd Street, returning to the Detroit area from Broadway, will be viewed on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. The fee is $79 for JCC members and $89 for non-members. The JCC Travel Department will sponsor a field trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts to see the Degas Exhibit on Tuesday, Dec. 3, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The trip includes a tour of the Degas exhibit with an audio guide and lunch on your own at a local bistro. Food Drive Needs Volunteers Twenty synagogues and organizations are partici- pating in Yad Ezra's annual Yom Kippur Food Drive this September, collecting thousands of pounds of food that will be distributed from Yad Ezra's warehouse to 1,100 families in need. Volunteers and staff will collect the donated food on Tuesday, Sept. 17, after Yom Kippur. Volunteers are needed at Yad Ezra to weigh, sort and shelve food. The following shifts are available: • Tuesday, Sept. 17: noon-3 p.m.; 3-6 p.m.; 6- 8 p.m. • Wednesday, Sept. 18: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; 1-4 p.m. • Thursday, Sept. 19: noon-3 p.m.; 3-6 p.m.; 6-8 p.m. • Friday, Sept. 20: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Last year, this effort generated more than 32,000 pounds of donated food. Sign Up For Fame Games The 16th annual West Bloomfield Community Games, showcasing the athletic abilities of chil- dren and adults with special needs, will take place Sunday, Oct. 13, on the grounds of the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. Murray Feldman of Fox 2 News will emcee the event and Michigan Rep. Marc Shulman will give greetings during the opening ceremony. Former Detroit Tiger baseball player Gates Brown will be on hand. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m., fol- lowed by track events at 10:30 a.m. After a noon lunch, aquatic events and the new hockey shoot- out will take place. The expanded children's medal presentation and closing ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. Adults will return at 7 p.m. for the medal presentation and dessert gala. This year's theme, the Magic of Sukkot, will be celebrated through hands-on exhibits and magi- cal crafts about the ritual and ecological aspects of Sukkot. Participants will see Jeff the Magician, celebrate a pilgrimage to Israel, see the Seven Species veream Welk Nieto earto-P8 Oar Harvest Area and hear conservationist Evie Boss. All ages are welcome.
