Mrs. Shapero was also a former director of development of Friends of the Detroit Public Mary Shapero Library and a partner in Shapero-Gordin Associates. Her affiliations in the community included the League of Women Voters, being a past president of Detroit Planned Parenthood and a past national organiza- tion board member. She also held positions locally and nationally with the American Jewish Committee. Mrs. Shapero was a long-time member of Temple Beth El and a primary force in establishing its Leo M. Franklin Archives as well as being a past board member of the sanctuary and active with many other Jewish and community organizations. She is survived by her husband of 50 _ years, Walter Shapero; son and daughter-in- law, Rabbi David and Helene Shapero; grandchildren, Chaim, Shira, Yakov and Mordechai; son, Rick Shapero and his companion, Wendy Wagoner; her children, Rosemary and Danny. She was the daugh- ter of the late Raymond Einstein and the late Ruth Einstein; granddaughter of the late Rabbi Leo M. Franklin and the late Hattie Franklin.
