Dakota Bread Co. offers a wide variety of
gourmet breads and other baked treats as
well as coffee and beverages. Its previous
owner was a Temple Israel member who
started making challah for them and, at some
point, challah took over as the biggest seller,
which it still is.

The flagship Bread Basket in Oak Park has
been the home of generous sandwiches,
homemade soups, blintzes, latkes, knishes
and other traditional deli fare for 34 years. A
variety of trays and off-premises catering also
are available.

features authors from around the world,
