Local architects, designers, engineers and contractors par- ticipated in the competition to raise funds and awareness about hunger in southeastern Michigan. Joel Smith and Ross Kaplan of Neumann Smith & Associates, an archi- tectural firm in Southfield, created the English "D" logo of the Detroit Tigers with cans. According to Rick Loewenstein, president of Gleaners, the event focused on the issues surrounding hunger and how everyone can become involved in finding creative solutions. The event featured host Steven Cojocaru of People maga- zine, and the guest artists were the Bacon Brothers.
