In game 3, Detroit clobbered ho-st Montreal 33-7. In game 4, Philadelphia defeated Detroit 25-4. Philadelphia's experi- ence 'showed, as the Detroit pitchers got off to a rocky start. In game 5, Detroit again faced the eventual gold medal winner, L.A., and lost 11-0 in five innings. The L.A. pitcher threw a perfect game. In the bronze medal game, Phila- delphia defeated Detroit 12-2. Silberstein said the girls accom- plished his goal for the team: playing for a medal at the end of the week. The team had only two 16-year-olds, and he expects it will be stronger and more experienced next year. Track: Detroit's two runners aeach won medals on relays. Lauren Sharkey won a gold with 15-16 girls in a 4x100 and Daniel Novinson won a silver in a 15-16 boys 4x100. Baseball: The team went 2-2, but due to the tie-breaking formula did not play in the medal rounds. The team was down 7-2 against South Jersey in its first game, but came back to win 8-7.
