Marianne Williamson, spiritual leader
of the 2,300-member Renaissance
Unity Church in Warren, has
announced her plans to leave the pul-
pit by the end of 2002.
Raised in Houston by a Jewish fami-
ly, Williamson
became a New Age
spiritualist in Los
Angeles. She
befriended such
Hollywood stars as
Elizabeth Taylor and
Oprah Winfrey
before coming to this
area in 1998 to lead
the Warren congrega-
tion formerly known Marianne
as the Church of
Williamson
Today. She did not
give a reason for leav--
ing, but said she will remain active in
the church, hosting seminars and pub-
lic speaking.
Williamson is working on her sixth
self-help book.

Corrections

• The name of the school in-
Windsor, Ontario, that Sam
Cooper of Huntington Woods
mentioned in his letter to the edi-
tor (Aug. 30, page 6) should have
read Begley School, not Bagley.

• In a story that explains Opera-
tion Bear-Blanket ("Friends Of
Israel," Aug. 30, page 30), unveiled
at the recent American Red Magen
David for Israel dinner, committee
member Jodi Tobin should have
been credited with writing a story
that helps educators explain the
project to children. Also, Rachel
Kahan, 5, of Bloomfield Hills was
one of the top bear-blanket sellers
during the dinner.
